At a desperate time in our nations’ history, Abraham Lincoln describe our government as a nation “of the people, and for the people.” Today the two major political parties have been in power for so long that they act as though the government is for the benefit of the parties and treat the citizens more like subjects than citizens. The rules and laws seem to favor the government by making it easier for the government to control and “Rule” the people.
